EYE Success Story – Frederico Rosa

Brief introduction

Jakob Vehovec Pondelak, a young music producer from Slovenia, joined the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme to expand his professional network, gain experience in the international music scene, and develop his business project $tash (formerly SampleVault). He partnered with Frederico Rosa, a Lisbon-based producer known as Fred Irie, whose unique Jazz, Afro, and Soul sound had inspired Jakob for years. Motivated by a shared passion for music, Jakob saw the exchange as an opportunity to learn from a seasoned professional while exploring how creativity and entrepreneurship come together in the music industry.

Activities undertaken

Throughout the six-month collaboration in Lisbon, Jakob contributed to Fred Irie’s creative output by editing videos for his YouTube channel, researching potential artist clients, and brainstorming strategies for audience growth. In parallel, Frederico mentored Jakob on music business operations and production management. Jakob also developed $tash — a platform aimed at connecting producers and sound designers — while learning to balance artistic work with business structure. The collaboration focused on practical skills, networking, and developing long-term creative strategies.

Benefits achieved

The collaboration benefited both entrepreneurs. Frederico gained new insights into video content, audience expectations, and over 50 new connections with Afrobeat producers. Jakob expanded his international network, gained valuable business and production skills, and strengthened his understanding of how to build and sustain a creative brand. The experience gave him a clear roadmap for developing $tash into a full business after the programme. Both plan to continue collaborating and growing their professional partnership in the future.
