As a result of the exceptional measures put in place by the Portuguese government to control the COVID-19 pandemic, an unprecedented business crisis is affecting many companies throughout the country, being exceptionally hurtful in the Algarve.
To help businesses survive, a number of legal instruments, such as the simplified lay-off, have been adapted or created by the government. This webinar seeks to inform and clarify the impact of this instrument on labour relations within your company.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:
• Joana de Sá – Partner | Head of Labour | Head of Pharmacy and Medicines Unit
Academic background: Degree in Law from Portucalense University, Porto, in 1999.
Professional experience: Lawyer internship between 1999 and 2001, completed at the law firm Graça Moura, Pimenta, Paiva Brandão & Associados. Shortly after completing the internship (October 2001) joined the law firm Valença, Machado & Associados, and became a partner in 2008. In January 2013, Joana founded the law firm JDS Advogados, a project she managed and which remained active until February 2018.
Associate of the Portuguese-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Member of the International Labour and Employment Relations Association (ILERA).
• Rita Frade Pina – Senior Associate | Head of Labour PRA Albufeira
Academic background: Law degree, University of Lisbon, Faculty of Law (1998); Post-Graduation in Tax, Portuguese Catholic University (2010).
Professional experience: Lawyer admitted to the Portuguese Bar Association in 2000; Lawyer / Legal Counsellor in telecommunications companies, banking / mortgage credit and securitization (2000-2012). Lawyer with experience in the practice areas of corporate, civil and litigation (2012-2016).
Associate of APODIT – Portuguese Association of Labour Law.
• Sérgio Mesquita Dinis – Associate | Labour Department PRA Albufeira
Academic background: Law degree, Portuguese Catholic University – Porto Regional Centre (2013); Master in Business Law, Portuguese Catholic University – Porto Regional Centre (2015); Postgraduate in Labour and Social Security Law, Portuguese Catholic University – Porto Regional Centre (2016).
Professional experience: Legal Consultant at HelloClean (from 2013 until now); Chief Legal Officer (CLO) at HelloVacations – Gest Rental (from 2016 until now); Lawyer at Bandeira, Reis Lima & Brás da Cunha (2019).
