\nAutor de best sellers, como \u201cO \u00faltimo cabalista de Lisboa\u201d, \u201cMeia Noite ou o Princ\u00edpio do Mundo\u201d, \u201cO Evangelho Segundo L\u00e1zaro\u201d, entre outros, ganhou pr\u00e9mios como National Endowment of the Arts Fellowship in Fiction e o Herodotus Award para melhor romance hist\u00f3rico e, mais recentemente, o pr\u00e9mio Bissaya Barreto de Literatura para a inf\u00e2ncia\/2018, com a publica\u00e7\u00e3o do livro \u201cO C\u00e3o que comia a chuva\u201d.
\nFoi-lhe atribu\u00edda a medalha de honra da Cidade do Porto em Julho de 2017. Do discurso do Presidente da C\u00e2mara do Porto, destaca-se a compara\u00e7\u00e3o a \u201cNasoni ou Eiffel. Como os Niepoort<\/strong> ou os Vanzelleres. \u00c9 um portuense que nasceu longe, fazendo o Porto maior, enorme, imenso. Um Porto que leva consigo nas linhas, nas entrelinhas e nos olhos.
