Martinhal Sagres Family Beach Resort<\/a>, the first 5-star resort founded by entrepreneurs Chitra and Roman Stern, was recognised by the Vila do Bispo Municipality on January 18 for its social and economic impact on the region.<\/strong><\/p>

The result of the dream of this visionary duo, who acquired Quinta do Martinhal in 2002, the resort faced challenges over eight years until its inauguration in 2010,\u00a0becoming, 15 years later, a benchmark for success and an example of innovation and resilience, contributing significantly to the economic and social development of the region.<\/p>

With a strong commitment to sustainability, Martinhal projects adhere to strict environmental management policies, implemented from construction through operations.<\/p>

These initiatives include the creation of green spaces, energy monitoring, investments in renewable energy, waste reduction, and support for local economies in the destinations where the resorts are located.<\/p>

Martinhal also actively promotes and supports national artists by incorporating exclusive art pieces from Portuguese talents into its developments.<\/p>

The positive impact in Sagres extends to the local community, fostering the growth of businesses such as shops, restaurants, surf schools, and tour operators. Additionally, the resort has generated jobs and increased municipal revenues through taxes, licenses, and fees.<\/p>

The excellence of Martinhal Sagres has been widely recognized over the years, with prestigious accolades such as the\u00a0World Travel Awards\u00a0(2013-2023). In 2024, the 5-start resort has been awarded\u00a0Best Hotel for Families in the World\u00a0at the 1st edition of the\u00a0Telegraph Hotel Awards. Last September, Chitra Stern, founder and CEO of Martinhal, was awarded the \u201cMerit Medal for Tourism\u201d for her outstanding contribution to the tourism sector and Portugal\u2019s economy, especially with her pro bono work with task forces and boards.<\/p>

Martinhal Resort<\/strong>s<\/p>

Martinhal Resorts is a group of four luxury family-friendly hotels and resorts in Portugal, founded by Chitra and Roman Stern. The opening of Martinhal Sagres in 2010 established the group as one of the country\u2019s leading hotel developers.<\/p>
