Minor Hotels has appointed João Jesus as its new Managing Director of the Tivoli Carvoeiro Algarve Resort, one of the group’s most iconic hotels which is nestled on the cliffs by the small Carvoeiro resort town.
With a long career in the hotel industry, Jesus joined Tivoli Hotels & Resorts in 2001, more precisely at the Tivoli Carvoeiro as work experience trainee. In 2002 he was invited to become a coordinator for the area Groups & Golf.
In 2007 he joined the Tivoli Hotels & Resorts Central Sales Department as Business Development Manager for Golf. Three years later he was promoted to Algarve Region Director of Sales. In 2017, a year after Tivoli Hotels & Resorts was acquired by Minor Hotels, he took on the position of Director of Marketing for the group’s hotels in the Algarve.
Trained in Tourism and Marketing at the Universidade do Algarve, João Jesus has a career spanning 17 years with experience in sales, marketing and hotel management. He took over at the Tivoli Carvoeiro after it was given a €11 million facelift in 2017.
“I have been working for this group since the start of my career and know all of its hotels in the Algarve region well. The Tivoli Carvoeiro has a very professional and experienced team and is a very special hotel for me personally because it was where I started my career,” he said adding that he was enthusiastic to take the helm as Managing Director of a unique and exclusive unit which had been completely refurbished to reflect its unique position in the region.
“In 2019, we will work at continuing to raise the hotel’s level of service through valuing and motivating our teams and improving the experience of our guests with a special emphasis on the details to make this hotel a benchmark in the region,” he concluded.
