The British-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the next Business Breakfast in the Algarve: “State Budget 2018: The end of foreign owned properties in Portugal?”
The State Budget for 2018 is based on an idea of stability, and appears to not have a significant impact on the lives of most taxpayers. However, it has introduced significant changes to certain tax regimes, such as the taxation of capital gains obtained from the sale of foreign companies that hold properties located in Portugal or the simplified tax regime for entrepreneurs. The session will address how these changes affect businesses and business people in Portugal.
The session will allow our members ample time to discuss these and other questions they might have, but also to share their experiences and learn from each other. As usual there will also be ample time during and after the session for our members to network and engage with the speaker on matters of interest!
ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Filipe Abreu graduated in law from the Law School of the University of Lisbon in 2006 and has an Advanced Post Graduate in Taxation from the Economic, Tax and Financial Law Institute of the Law School of the University of Lisbon. He was admitted to the Portuguese Bar Association in 2009 and is a member of the International Fiscal Association.
Currently a lawyer at PLMJ, Filipe was previously advisor and deputy to the Portuguese Secretary of State for Tax Affairs (2011 to 2015), having been a member of the think tank nominated by the Portuguese Government to review the Portuguese Personal Income Tax Code in 2014. Filipe is also a regular lecturer in conferences and has several scientific articles published in the field of taxation.
